Academic Advising in the Beaver College of Health Sciences
The Office of Advising and Academic Support welcomes you to the Beaver College of Health Sciences (BCHS) and we look forward to assisting you as you continue your academic career. Our office provides advising to help you understand academic requirements and make timely progress toward graduation.
Getting Started with a BCHS Advisor
Once you declare a major in health sciences, you will be assigned a professional academic advisor, who will contact you via your App State email to schedule your first appointment. (Keep in mind that it can take a few days to process new majors into BCHS.) You are required to meet with your advisor to develop your graduation plan, get college policy information, and learn about faculty mentoring.
Academic Progress
You can monitor your progress at any time by checking your DegreeWorks record online. In addition, our office will provide an audit when you apply for graduation. This audit will note potential scheduling and/or other issues so they may be corrected while there is still time to make adjustments in your academic program. This review is a service provided by our office and we strongly encourage you to review the graduation audit carefully. Please remember that you are ultimately responsible for maintaining current knowledge of policies and for meeting all University requirements to complete your degree.
