Biography: Lisa comes to the Office of Advising and Academic Support after serving as Program Assistant with App State Online at Appalachian State University for six years. She’s a native of the High Country, born and raised in Ashe County. She loves everything about the area, especially the people. She enjoys working with the student population in higher education and helping them achieve their educational goals. When she isn’t at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and kayaking the New River.

Biography: Tina has worked at Appalachian for 28 years, where she started in the College of Arts and Sciences, before joining the Beaver College of Health Sciences team in 2018. Tina is a local from Blowing Rock, North Carolina where she grew up riding horses and being a trail guide for nine years. She is a proud mother and grandmother who quilts in her spare time.

Tina loves working for the Beaver College of Health Sciences in an environment where she looks forward to coming to work, even on Mondays!

Biography: Larke comes to the Office of Advising and Academic Support after two years with App State Online at Appalachian State University. She fell in love with Boone as an App State undergrad studying Psychology and Religious Studies. After graduation, Larke moved to Winston Salem and completed a Master of Divinity degree from Wake Forest University. Marrying a Boone native, Larke moved back to Boone in 2015. Along with being an employee of Appalachian State, she is also a student pursuing a second master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Outside of supporting students in their academic endeavors, Larke enjoys spending time with her husband, Great Dane, family, friends, watching Mountaineer football, and pastoring her local church.

Biography: A native of western NC, Tron left the area to earn a BA in History from NC State University and then returned briefly to earn an MA in Higher Education/Teaching from ASU.  He then moved back to Raleigh where he taught history and served as an academic advisor before returning to Boone in 2016. Since his return, Tron has worked as an academic advisor in the Beaver College of Health Sciences (primarily with the Exercise Science program).  During his spare time, he enjoys reading, music and movies. Mostly, though, he prefers to spend time with his dog and the two of them continue to find a way to make fall arrive a little earlier and winter last a little longer

Biography:  Celeste worked at ETSU, Tusculum College, and Union College before arriving at Appalachian in 2007.  She is active in many professional associations; previously serving as HPANC and SAAHP President, on the NAAHP BOD, and as NAAHP 2018 National Meeting Co-chair.  She enjoys dance, pilates, travel, college sports, and being CeCe to her niece.

Biography: Hera has been employed at Appalachian State University for 16 years, and served eight years as a Student Services Specialist in the Registrar's Office before joining the Records team here in 2015. She finds fostering student success most gratifying and has a soft spot for high-risk students. Hera’s outside interests include music, hiking, cooking, digging in the dirt on her farm, and spending time with her family.

Biography: Joelle comes to the Office of Advising and Academic Support after three years in Campus Dining as the Student Employment Coordinator at Appalachian State University. Her favorite part about working for the university is the opportunity to work alongside and form relationships with such amazing students. She also has professional interests in educational access, social justice, sustainability and nonprofit management.  When she's not at work, Joelle likes to experiment with arts and crafts, travel and hike with her boyfriend and their dog.

Biography: Prior to joining Academic Advising and Support Janice began her career at Appalachian in the College of Education’s Teaching Fellows/Appalachian Educator’s program where she worked from 2006-2015.  She has also worked as a health professions advisor at a small college, a training & employee relations officer for a local government, as the management development specialist at a healthcare facility, and as a health educator for a district health department. She enjoys gardening, volunteering, and exploring walking trails in Watauga County as well as traveling and spending time with her family.

Biography: Catherine has been serving students in the Beaver College of Health Sciences since 2012.  She completed her MA in Higher Education in May 2018, further developing her interests in advising and student support. Catherine is also a Transfer Mentor at ASU and a certified mediator for the North Carolina Office of State Human Resources.  As a staff member at ASU, she enjoys connecting with international students and visitors and volunteering with AppKIDS.  Catherine balances work with practicing yoga, running, travelling, and enjoying time with her son.

Biography: Originally from Charlotte N.C., Kayla moved to Boone in 2013 where she pursued her B.S. degree in Health Promotion at ASU. She then spent some time on the West Coast living in Eugene, O.R. while working for a Home Health Care agency before finding herself back in Boone. She spent two years in the College of Arts and Sciences as a Records Specialist and then made her way over to Beaver College of Health Sciences. She loves building relationships with her students and colleagues and has a passion for working with underrepresented student populations. In her free time, Kayla loves to spend time with her husband, and their two dogs. She also loves to cook, read, and travel.
