Biography: Lisa comes to the Office of Advising and Academic Support after six years as Program Assistant with App State Online at Appalachian State University. She’s a native of the High Country, born and raised in Ashe County. She loves everything about the area, especially the people. She enjoys working with the student population in higher education and helping them reach their educational goals. When she isn’t at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, kayaking the New River and reading.

Biography: Tina has worked at Appalachian for 26 years, where she started in the College of Arts and Sciences, before joining the Beaver College of Health Sciences team in 2018. Tina is a local from Blowing Rock, North Carolina where she grew up riding horses and being a trail guide for nine years. She is a proud mother, and an expectant grandmother, who in her spare time quilts.

Tina loves working for the Beaver College of Health Sciences in an environment where she looks forward to coming to work, even on Mondays!

Biography: A native of western NC, Tron left the area to earn a BA in History from NC State University and then returned briefly to earn an MA in Higher Education/Teaching from ASU.  He then moved back to Raleigh where he taught history and served as an academic advisor before wisely returning to Boone in 2016. Since his return, Tron has worked as an academic advisor in the Beaver College of Health Sciences (primarily with the Exercise Science program).  During his spare time, he enjoys reading, music and movies. Mostly, though, he prefers to spend time with his wife and dogs. Tron also continues his lifelong quest to find a way to make fall arrive a little earlier and winter last a little longer

Biography:  Celeste worked at ETSU, Tusculum College, and Union College before arriving at Appalachian in 2007.  She is active in many professions associations; currently serving as HPANC President and NAAHP 2018 National Meeting Co-chair.  She enjoys dance, pilates, travel, college sports, and being CeCe to her niece.

Biography:  Travis served as a collegiate coach, program director, and (most recently) an Exercise Science faculty member at Appalachian prior to becoming an academic advisor for the Beaver College of Health Sciences.  He enjoys helping students uncover their true potential while allowing them to explore all of their options at Appalachian.  Travis enjoys messing around with different kinds of technology, lifting weights, and watching sports and traveling with his wife and dog.

Biography: Hera has been employed at Appalachian State University for ten years, most recently as a Student Services Specialist in the Registrar's Office. She finds fostering student success very satisfying and has a soft spot for high risk students. She also embraces diversity.  Hera finds peace in music, the woods and the beach and enjoys cooking, gardening, and the gift of her three children.

Biography: Callie is a Nationally Certified Counselor and has worked in the NC Community College system as Academic Advisor, Career Counselor, and Personal Counselor. She has experience working in residential camping and facilitating expressive arts groups. Callie enjoys playing music, cycling, and gardening with her husband and dog.

She also has professional interests in educational access, social justice, sustainability and nonprofit management.  When she's not at work, Joelle likes to experiment with arts and crafts, travel and hike with her boyfriend and their dog.

Biography: Prior to joining Academic Advising and Support Janice began her career at Appalachian in the College of Education’s Teaching Fellows/Appalachian Educator’s program where she worked from 2006-2015.  She has also worked as a health professions advisor at a small college, a training & employee relations officer for a local government, as the management development specialist at a healthcare facility, and as a health educator for a district health department. She enjoys gardening, volunteering, and exploring walking trails in Watauga County as well as traveling and spending time with her family.

Biography: Catherine has been serving students in the Beaver College of Health Sciences since 2012.  She completed her MA in Higher Education in May 2018, further developing her interests in advising and student support. Catherine is also a Transfer Mentor at ASU and a certified mediator for the North Carolina Office of State Human Resources.  As a staff member at ASU, she enjoys connecting with international students and visitors and volunteering with AppKIDS.  Catherine balances work with practicing yoga, running, travelling, and enjoying time with her son.
