According to the Williams School of Graduate Studies, the Academy recognizes “graduate faculty members for exemplary mentoring activities well beyond good classroom and laboratory instruction or research supervision of graduate students.”

Skinner, who completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees at App State, benefitted from Triplett's mentorship when he was a student.

“Being inducted into the Graduate School's Academy of Outstanding Mentors is an incredible honor and means the world to me,” said Skinner. “I’ve been fortunate to learn from some truly exceptional mentors including Travis who is now my colleague and being recognized for her outstanding mentorship. Being recognized as a mentor by my peers and students reminds me that the small things like a quick check-in, an honest conversation, and encouragement to dream big are important.”
