Drs. Zachary and Alisha Farris took 16 Appalachian students to Madagascar this summer to carry out a research program where they studied a wide range of human health (ex. malnutrition prevalence, disease transmission, and midwife/birthing practices and access) and conservation and wildlife health topics (ex. drone surveys to map rainforest degradation, camera surveys of carnivores, GPS tracking of infected dogs/cats).
