Congratulations to the Public Health Program for receiving accreditation status. The Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) accredited the Public Health Program at Appalachian State University for a five-year term. Our program is the 10th accredited standalone bachelor’s Public Health program to be awarded in the country. The other nine schools include: Clemson, East Carolina, Rutgers, Southern Illinois (Edwardsville), State University of New York-Cortland, Syracuse, University of Nebraska, UNC-Wilmington, and William Paterson University.
This process began with the program’s application being accepted in the summer of 2014 and will culminate with Appalachian being represented at the Standalone Baccalaureate Program Accreditation Session hosted by CEPH at the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health Undergraduate Summit in March. Dr. Jennifer Zwetsloot, Assistant Professor and Program Director of Public Health, has been invited to represent Appalachian State University as an exemplar school for the accreditation process.
The accreditation is retroactive and applies to all students who have graduated since August 2016. Students graduating from accredited programs are more competitive for placement in internships and graduate programs, and the rigorous CEPH standards curriculum and student outcomes are recognized by potential employers.
Congratulations to the Public Health faculty for their accreditation and serving as models of excellency!
