“Giving her students autonomy and choice, she often creates assignments where students can highlight what they are interested in and passionate about,” wrote Nilles in her nomination. “I have seen all kinds of professors, and Dr. Weidmann is different…her teaching transcends the traditional role of professor, embodying the essence of mentorship and inspiration. She not only passes on knowledge but also nurtures personal growth, self discovery, and meaningful connections, making her a truly outstanding educator.”

Nilles also mentioned that Weidmann is teaching her Seminar in Tourism Development course, and creating an educational partnership with a university in Lisbon, Portugal, to conduct a Collaborative Online International Learning experience for our students.

According to The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH), it recognizes those who advocate for the interests and welfare of residence hall students, while also providing opportunities for their personal growth and development.

“Being acknowledged by students in this manner stands as one of the greatest honors of my profession — after all, they are the driving force behind my work!,” said Weidmann. “I cherish the opportunity to forge personal connections with students, recognizing that their university journey encompasses more than mere attendance and assignments. My aspiration is for them to reminisce fondly on our discussions, knowing that I prioritize their academic and professional growth and their personal development.”
