AJ Dohanic shares his experiences with Nutrition and Foods students

On October 27, Aaron “AJ” Dohanic, class of 2013, double major in Nutrition and Foods (Dietetics) and Exercise Science and 2nd Team All-American in Track and Field, gave two presentations to dietetics students and students in Introduction to Nutrition and Health about his journey to becoming a Registered Dietitian. He spoke about his time at Appalachian State University, his dietetic internship at Iowa State University, positions he has held since becoming a Registered Dietitian and gave some valuable insight to students pursuing a career in dietetics with respect to performance in school and the importance of nutrition-related experiences, including the undergraduate internship that students complete as part of their Capstone experience in Nutrition and Foods.

Dohanic currently serves as a Bariatric Dietitian and Support Group Facilitator with WellStar Health System in Atlanta, Georgia. He also served as a Sports Performance Trainer/Coach before landing his present position. Dohanic offered the students practical advice while serving as a great role model. His message to the students included his personal goal to “Learn something new each day, better my skills and serve as a leading professional in the health and wellness field.”
